Netherlands Film Fund
The Netherlands Film Fund is the national cultural fund for the professional, independent film sector in the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. It provides financial support for the development, production and distribution of film productions and film-related activities.
What we do
The Film Fund finances films that contribute to a varied and distinctive range of Dutch films for a diverse audience. This means that we enable productions with a wide variety of stories, for young and old, film fanatics, as well as occasional cinema-goers, in every corner and region: from Maastricht to Texel, from Groningen to Bonaire. In line with our societal mission, we promote film culture in the broadest sense: from feature films to VR, from experimental to children’s and family films, from documentaries to animation, as well as film education hubs and regional incubators. Our focus is not only on established creators; we also encourage emerging talent and new, previously unheard voices.
In addition to film productions, we finance film activities in the areas of talent development and film education throughout the Netherlands. These film activities provide a valuable foundation on which films and filmmakers can thrive, with a focus on making Dutch films accessible to all. We also strengthen the regional infrastructure to enhance the accessibility of the film sector for filmmakers from the Kingdom of the Netherlands and to highlight stories from the regions.
Netherlands Film Production Incentive
The Fund’s intention is to use the Netherlands Film Production Incentive (NFPI) to provide incentives to film productions developed and produced with creative and production freedom and in so doing increase the production activity for creative and technical film professionals and film companies in the Netherlands, while at the same time strengthening the international competitive position of the Dutch film industry.
International Activities
The Film Fund organizes international activities aimed at broadening and deepening the international network of the sector and promoting talents and projects at international labs, festivals, and co-production markets. The international department also includes the Netherlands Film Commission, a service point for foreign producers who wish to carry out (parts of) their production in the Netherlands.
SEE NL
For the international promotion of films from the Netherlands, we collaborate with Eye Filmmuseum under the name SEE NL. SEE NL aims to increase the visibility of Dutch films and improve their position in the international market. At international film festivals and production markets, SEE NL servces as a central point of knowledge and contact for Dutch cinema.

Sustainability - EFAD Members’ Initiatives
The Netherlands Film Fund offers various forms of financing and support to make film productions more sustainable and to encourage the sector to take more steps. In addition, the Fund organises training courses and inspiration sessions, where best practices of sustainably shot feature film productions are shared and specific topics are discussed.
The Netherlands Film Fund also partnered with the VAF (Belgium - Dutch Speaking) to organise a training weekend for professionals interested in promoting sustainability within the film sector. This training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to support sustainability efforts in film productions. During the first Sustainable Film Production training weekend, 15 diverse professionals from Flanders and the Netherlands were trained to become eco-managers.
