Czech Film Fund

The Czech Film Fund was established on January 1, 2013 on the basis of Act No. 496/2012 Coll. on audiovisual works and the support of cinema and on the amendment of certain laws (the Audiovisual Act).

The Czech Film Fund in particular:

a) administers audiovisual fees and administrative fees in accordance with the Audiovisual Act;

b) maintains records in the audivisual field;

c) provides film support;

d) exercises property rights, including copyright and property rights of performing artists, which pass to the state under another law;

e) exercises the audiovisual work producer rights that have passed to its legal predecessor in accordance with another law and the audio/video recording producer rights pertaining to it in accordance with another law;

f) grants the co-producer status in accordance with the Convention or under any other international agreement on film co-production;

g) provides production incentives;

h) carries out methodological, publicity and strategic activities in the field of cinema and film industry,

i) performs activities defined by other laws.

The Czech Film Fund supports all stages of film production, as well as promotion, distribution and other film-related areas. Approximately 14.5 million euro goes into this selective support every year. The Fund also administers production incentives for audio-visual projects made in the Czech Republic. The annual budget for this cash rebate is 47.4 million euro.

The Czech Film Center promotes and markets Czech films and the local film industry worldwide. It collaborates with major international film festivals and co-production platforms and utilizes a global network of partners, seeking opportunities for creative exchange between Czech filmmakers and their international counterparts.

The Czech Film Commission promotes the country with its film infrastructure as one of the world's top destinations for audiovisual production. As a comprehensive resource for filming in the Czech Republic, the commission provides incoming filmmakers with consultation, guidance, and contacts.
